Artist Bio
Noor Awan (she/they) is a cross-disciplinary visual artist based in Toronto. They were born in Lahore, Pakistan and grew up in the Middle East. Their artwork references symbols that connect back to their roots, while also using abstraction and technology in a way to refashion the traditional as a method of meaning-making for their contextual experience as a queer, disabled artist and intersectional feminist. Their practice involves digital collage, textiles, installations and abstract painting with inks. In 2024, they will receive their BFA in Cross Disciplinary Art and a Minor in Gender and Sexuality Studies at Ontario College of Art and Design University (OCADU). Awan has been included in an exhibition called “Bodies Mattering” at OCADU’s Great Hall Gallery in Toronto, Canada in 2017.
